Dribble Digest - 1/15/24 - 1/21/24

A dribble is a 55-word micro-story. Every day, I write a dribble on Telegram. This is the collection of all of the dribbles for this week. These stories are being done in a special manner. I ask a member of my Taygetan star family to telepathically send me a scene from their memory or life, and I write the scene as a 55-word dribble. Submissions are kept anonymous. Any names used might be real from a past life or simply made up.

Therefore, what you see here are scenes from their lives, their past lives, or things they think about. Consider it a window into their world.

This is proving to be a great way to bond with them, and practice telepathy. It's also a bit of a game. How well can I describe what I'm seeing?

Tara peered over her sunglasses down the beach. Tiny prisms glittered in the sand. It was blue out. A family on hoverboards sailed over the water, dolphins following them. Next to her, Jeda said, "I have some back at the house. Do you want to try?" Distracted, she heard, "Do you want to fly?" "Yes."

Her footfalls echoed in the corridor. Lights flickered, yet sensors showed no signs of electrical malfunction. A crash sounded in the room two doors to the right. A ball slowly rolled into the corridor. Giggling. Hmmbzzzt! Darkness. Breathing. “Tag! You’re it!” Something jabbed her back. She whirled around in surprise. But no one was there.

"Flight Test 224, this is Flight Tower 5. You are clear to launch." The craft is plain, silvery metal, wings swept back against the diamond sky.

"Rigged for controlled launch. Initiating," replies the pilot. Symbols race across blue screens. Engines rumble. "Engaging." A sudden increase in vibration then... Stillness.

"Fight Test 224, you are undocked."

Elanor walked dreamily through the grand hall, her bootheels echoing on the forlorn walls. Where a window should be, there was a hallway into nothing. Where a doorway should be, was the dawn of a new planet. Here was the crossroads.

"What are we doing here?" Gira asked, drawing her sidearm.

"We're waiting for a friend."

"Shh! You'll scare it!" Slowly they crept toward the shrub. Its leaves quivered, humming nervously. The boy tripped on a stone, and the shrub wailed like a scared rabbit. It ran into a tree, stumbled, then bolted into a rock.

"Got it! This has to be the fastest shrub for the race!" the girl exclaimed.
