Dreams as of December 7, 2023. Same night. Dream 1: Orbital BombardmentI’m on a planet very similar to Earth (which means in the dream it’s Earth but not) with a star family member who I recognize from this life. We’re in the Yucatán Peninsula in this set of ancient sinkholes that have turned into jungle, cave system, and outpost. The rest of our crew have left us there to get supplies. My friend and I decide to explore the area—we’ve only been there a few days. We end up geeking out over these fantastic mushrooms glowing in a crevice in the wall. My friend takes out a device and we’re recording data about it and looking around. Suddenly the ground starts to tremble. I look up, and there’s a whole giant fleet of ships in formation headed to the east. My friend says “Andromedans. But what are they doing here? And so soon?” She switches over to a map holoscreen, and we can see lines of energy pouring out of the sky onto the area. “They’ve begun orbital bombardment.” “We have to get out of here.” I say. But there’s no time, so we take cover in a notch in the cliff wall. Turns out this is the entrance to a stairwell for a house. My friend and I get separated. She turns herself invisible and I forget how to do that and instead go up the stairs. I end up passing a room with someone in it. No good. So I find an empty room to hide in. The walls are plastered white. Carpet is a deep royal blue like a shag rug. Windows have deep blue frames in them. I flatten myself into the carpet thinking it will hide me. It doesn’t. An Andromedan sticks their head around the corner and says something in a strange language, but I get the gist of what they’re meaning to ask “Are you all right? How many are here?” I suddenly realize they’re evacuating everybody. I wake up. Realize there was no need to hide in paranoia. Time to rewrite the experience. Go back in, and rewrite the end. My friend and I decide not to hide. We meet the Andromedan outside, and he tells us they’re evacuating. My friend asks me to call in our family, because while I’ve forgotten how to phase shift and go invisible, I do telepathy very well. I call in my family, they pick us up. End of dream sequence. Dream 2: Desert Planet OutpostAnother planet in Orion. This one is a desert planet. Like Mars, but not Mars. Has a breathable atmosphere. I’m on patrol when my ship crashes to the ground. We’re all okay and get out. We find ourselves outside an outpost that’s been forgotten about. Or so it looks.
I spend time inspecting the area. I discover a small farm in the middle of this place that’s supposedly deserted. No one is said to be here. I don’t see any signs of anyone here—except this farm. I’m writing this down, when someone runs to me—one of my crew—and tells me there’s an enemy squadron about to bomb this place. We need to take cover. Suddenly, there’s this whooping cry from all around us and these people emerge from the abandoned buildings. They run into the desert sand and straight up out of the sand these ancient fighter ships take to the sky (they look amusingly like WWI planes with no propellers). A massive dog fight takes place over our heads. The enemy is defeated in minutes. I’m staring amazed, and one of the craft lands. This scruffy looking young woman steps out, and the only thing I can think to say is “Explain this farm and your ships, ensign.” She looks at her feet, and tells me the story of what happened. They were part of the alliance and got stranded in the system a few years ago. They made an outpost on this planet hoping help would find them. As she tells me about the farm, she’s suddenly afraid that I will take it away from her. Instead, I compliment her ingenuity, because it was genius how they got anything to grow there, and inform her a unit will be dispatched to bring her outpost up to speed and she’s now in charge of it. She brightens at this. I wake up. Comments are closed.
