The DesertThe desert seemed endless as it stretched from horizon to horizon, dropping off at last into the White Unknown. I staggered along, my feet heavy in the sand and wings battered, falling to my hands and knees at sunrise each day to lick dew from the undersides of rocks. It was all the water I had. It had been years since I had a proper drink. Up ahead, always on that one horizon and in that same direction, shone a bright light. Always out of reach. I must reach it. The sky boomed. "Mummy. Why won't queeny dig her nest?" I thank you for your time. Adiamas.
