How many in my unit were simultaneously convinced to go into immersion? Was this all around the same time period? This has been picking at the back of my mind since remembering I'm part of Taygetan military. Very softly, in the back of my mind, I kept recalling Mari saying the Taygetan military had been neutralized. And the following words came to mind out of memory...
"Listen, you need to get over him. Why don't you try immersion? You'll forget all about him and get to go have some other experience." And I am unsure. I feel unsure about this. Then this person, a man, touching my arm saying, "It'll be good for you." He is well-meaning. A colleague. I walk away still unsure, but the "it'll be good for you" lodges right in my head and circles around and around. Maybe it would be helpful. Then the unsureness arises. The unsureness comes from a warning given a long time ago that immersion is dangerous for people like me. A consciousness designed and trained to hack into and break systems should not be entered into any kind of system wherein your safety is reliant on the integrity of that system. It would be like putting battery acid inside a plastic bag. The acid just eats right through the bag. (This explains why when Aneeka is assuring Robert that "immersion is safe" my first response the first time I read it was "No, it's not safe!") But I did it anyway. Because even intelligent people do stupid things. Which put me conveniently out of the way. Who else in the astral unit were put into immersion and therefore "out of the way"? Because people like me...my team...we would have spotted all this shit going on well before it even got to Temmer. Those astral entities in boxes? We would have destroyed them right inside those boxes, and by the time anyone even arrived to open them there'd be nothing but air in there. No entities at all. I've been thinking about that. How did Taygeta get infiltrated? Because your Dúnedain were put out of the way. Where would the Shire be if the Dúnedain weren't in the shadows protecting it? How many other Lyrian societies have had their militaries disabled because they should "go save Earth" and therefore "go into immersion"? Instead of protecting their people? Hmm. Anyway, I am very sleepy today. I took a random nap a little while ago and heard dad's voice (just one sentence far away), then was swimming in memories of this life. All those intimate firsts you do growing up. All the sudden remembering those. I'm still sleepy. That's okay, I won't fight it too hard. My feet feel warm today. Thank you for relaying that message for me CIC. I see the socks. Much better! I thank you for your time. Adiamas. --Kyriel Comments are closed.
